Cropp & Farr 1968 AAA quality 3.8-8mm vintage Akoya pearl necklace with ruby & diamond clasp, original Garrad's case
A beautiful and original 47cm (18.5 inch) white saltwater pearl necklace with a 9ct white gold ruby and diamond clasp. The pearls are hand knotted between each pearl, onto double threaded silk.
The pearls are beautiful 3.8-8mm Japanese Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, excellent luster and ivory overtones. The pearls have no imperfections, so are graded AAA. The clasp is has a 3mm pink round ruby at its centre which is surrounded by 10 miligrain set rose cut diamonds. The clasp is hallmarked C&F for the maker Cropp and Farr, 375 for 9ct gold, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office and a T for 1968.
These pearls are a classic and Akoya pearls with this pedigree are highly prized. The necklace will be presented in its original fitted red leather velvet and silk lined Garrad & Co Ltd box (as shown).
