Stunning 1956 vintage Técla AAA 7.5-8mm double strand Akoya pearl choker & platinum zircon clasp

An extraordinary and original 1956 Técla 37.5cm (14.75 inch) saltwater pearl double strand choker with stunning zircon-set platinum clasp. The longer strand is 15.5 inches, and the strands nest together perfectly. The clasp has been professionally cleaned and the pearls are newly hand knotted between each pearl, onto double threaded white silk.

The famous Parisian jewellers Técla established in 1912 were the first French jewellery company to import Japanese Akoya pearls. The beautiful 7.5-8mm pearls are flattering cream colour with a thick nacre, excellent luster and rose overtones. The pearls have virtually no imperfections, so are graded AAA. The 15mm quatrefoil-shaped clasp is unmarked but tests for platinum and is set with a 5mm (approx. 1ct) princess cut zircon and is surrounded by 16 additional round zircons.

These pearls are irreplaceable, original Akoya pearls with this stunning clasp should be as highly prized today as they were in the 1950s. The original receipt is included, which lists the cost as 249 pounds and 18 shillings in 1956, equivalent to approximately £5,000 today. The necklace will be presented in the original Técla box with cream velvet and satin interior, marked Técla, 7 Old Bond St London W1.
