Vintage Mikimoto double strand cultured Akoya pearl & 9ct white gold necklace in original box
An original 1960 Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 43cm (17 inch) necklace is made from 190 3.5-7.5mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and a rose overtone. The longer strand is 18 inch, and the strands hang perfectly together when worn. The necklace has its original clasp; a 9 carat white gold box clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell, K9 WG to indicate 9 carat white gold).
The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto velvet and silk lined box and guarantee booklet. The pearls were sold by Lane Crawford's in Hong Kong on 19th March 1960.
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between the end three pearls. If you would prefer the necklace to be strung with knots between each pearl, I can do this free of charge, it will however lengthen the necklace by approximately 1 inch.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
