Antique double strand cultured Akoya pearl, diamond & 14 carat necklace in original box
An original 1920's cultured Japanese Akoya pearl necklace. This excellent quality 44cm (17.25 inch) necklace is made from 4.5-8.3mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and rose overtones. The longer strand is 18.75 inch, and the strands hang slightly apart when worn. The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed between each pearl.
The necklace has its original clasp; a 14 carat white gold box clasp set with a single pearl and 13 rose cut old diamonds (the clasp has the horse head and W mark for 14 carat gold and Vienna, Austria which was used between 1922-1925, and JW for the maker).
The necklace is complete with its original fitted velvet and silk lined box. The outer edges of the box have signs of wear in keeping with its age.
