AA++ vintage double 3-6.5mm Akoya saltwater pearl, 9ct gold & garnet necklace
A 44cm (17.25 inch) reconditioned vintage double strand saltwater pearl necklace with a 9 carat gold, garnet and pearl clasp (marked 9ct). The longer strand is 18.25 inches and the strands hang perfectly together. The pearls are newly hand knotted between each pearl, onto double threaded white silk.
These cultured Akoya pearls are probably from the first half of the 20th century. They have a creamy body colour with rainbow overtones, they are AA++ quality, and have smooth nacre and excellent luster. The bright orange-red garnet (almandine or spessartine) in the clasp is approximately 5mm and is surrounded by 3mm Akoya pearls.
