Vintage 3.3-7.4mm Mikimoto cultured saltwater Akoya pearl & silver necklace in original box
An original 1960's Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 46.5cm (18.25 inch) necklace is made from 3.3-7.4mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, glowing luster and cream overtones. The necklace has its original clasp; a silver engraved pearl clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell).
The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto red and blue velvet and silk case, and outer pink cardboard case The pearls were sold by Mikimoto Inc, Ginza, Tokyo. The cardboard case shows signs of use.
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed between only the end pearls as it would have been originally. If you would prefer the necklace to be strung with knots between each pearl, I can do this free of charge, it will however lengthen the necklace by approximately 1-1.5 inch.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
