Vintage 6-6.5mm Mikimoto cultured saltwater Akoya pearl & silver necklace in original box
An original 1960's Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 42cm (16.5 inch) necklace is made from 59 6-6.5mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, glowing luster and a cream overtone. The necklace has its original clasp; a silver engraved pearl clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell, S to indicate silver).
The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto red and blue velvet and silk case, information leaflet and pink outer cardboard box. The pearls were sold by Mikimoto.Inc in Ginza Tokyo. The silk of the case and the cardboard outerbox show signs of use.
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between each pearl. If you would prefer the necklace to be strung as it would have been originally, with knots between only the end pearls, I can do this free of charge, it will however shorten the necklace by approximately 1 inch.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
