Vintage Mikimoto double strand cultured Akoya pearl & 18ct gold necklace in original box
An original 1980s Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 40cm (15.75 inch) necklace is made from 118 6mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and a silver-rose overtone. The longer strand is 16.75 inch, and the strands hang perfectly together when worn. The necklace has its original clasp; a 18 carat yellow gold box clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell, 750 to indicate 18 carat gold).
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between the end three pearls. The necklace is complete with its original blue Mikimoto velvet and silk lined box.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
