Vintage Mikimoto double strand cultured Akoya pearl & silver necklace in original box
An original 1960's Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 45cm (17.5 inch) necklace is made from 192 4.5-7.5mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and a rose overtone. The longer strand is 18.25 inch, and the strands nest perfectly together when worn. The necklace has its original clasp; a silver box clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell, S to indicate silver).
The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto velvet and silk pouch and box. The pearls were sold by Mikimoto.Inc in Ginza Tokyo.
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between the end three pearls. If you would prefer the necklace to be strung with knots between each pearl, I can do this free of charge, it will however lengthen the necklace by approximately 1 inch.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
