Vintage Mikimoto double strand cultured Akoya pearl & silver necklace in original box
An original 1963 Mikimoto cultured Akoya pearl necklace. This beautiful 44.5cm (17.5 inch) necklace is made from 164 4.1-7.8mm perfectly round white Akoya pearls with a thick nacre, shining luster and a rose overtone. The longer strand is 18.5 inch, and the strands hang perfectly together when worn. The necklace has its original clasp; a sterling silver box clasp set with a single pearl (the clasp has the Mikimoto makers mark of a M in a clam shell, S to indicate sterling silver).
The necklace is complete with its original Mikimoto silk lined box, seal and guarantee booklet. The box is in pristine condition. The pearls were sold by Lane Crawford's in Hong Kong on 13th February 1963.
The pearls have been cleaned and newly restrung in the original manner onto double threaded white silk, with knots placed only between the end three pearls. If you would prefer the necklace to be strung with knots between each pearl, I can do this free of charge, it will however lengthen the necklace by approximately 1 inch.
These Mikimoto pearls are a true classic and are highly prized.
